Quarter Pallet of Wood Pellets For Flood Defence With 51 Hessian Sacks

£199.00

Wood pellets to make 51 flood defence sacks supplied complete with sacks

Delivery Area:

Quantity:  at  £199.00  each

A quarter pallet (255kg) of 6mm wood pellets supplied with hessian sacks which can be filled to make flood defence sacks.  The quantity supplied is enough to make 51 effective flood defence sacks.

Wood pellets are highly absorbent compressed wood shavings, they act like blotting paper, you can put a sandbag filled with pellets in a puddle and it will suck up the water. They act like dry weetabix on steroids.

Simply slightly less than half fill each sack with approximately 5kg of wood pellets (a third of a bag of pellets) and lay the sacks to form your flood defence.  The wood pellets will expand when wet to fill the sack and fill any gaps in your barrier.

Using wood pellets instead of sand in flood defence sacks (sandbags) offers several advantages.

  • Less prone to water seepage than sand bags.
  • Totally Organic - 100% chemical and pollution free.
  • Incredibly absorbent.
  • Lighter in weight when dry so can be moved into place easily.
  • Easily moulded to shape for use in awkward or unusual positions.
  • Easier to fill than sandbags - simply tip in the wood pellets from the pellet bag.
  • Cost effective alternative - one quarter pallet makes over 50 sacks.
  • No problems with contents escaping through sack weave

Wood pellets are supplied in 15kg bags which can be stored for long periods in a dry location when not required for use. Hessian sacks are supplied empty ready to be filled with wood pellets.  Price shown includes VAT at 20%

For most effective use, lay bags on a layer of plastic sheeting.  Build wood pellet sacks in rows.  Flatten down each row to minimise gaps in your structure. Do not overfill bags as they will expand when wet. Like sandbags, wood pellet bags for flood defence will not stop water completely but can be used to minimise the amount of water entering.  Once a wood pellet sack has been used as a flood barrier it can be used again, but will not be as effective, the contents are organic wood shavings and can be disposed
 off on garden beds etc.
