25 Empty Hessian Sacks Suitable To Make A Wood Pellet Flood Barrier

25 empty hessian sacks which can be used with wood pellets to make an effective flood barrier.  Ideal for existing customers with stocks of wood pellets.

Simply fill each sack to slightly less than half full with approximately 5kg of wood pellets (a third of a bag of pellets) and lay the sacks to form your flood defence.  The wood pellets will expand when wet to fill the sack and fill any gaps in your barrier.

Using wood pellets instead of sand in flood defence sacks (sandbags) offers several advantages.

• Less prone to water seepage than sand bags.
• Incredibly absorbent.
• Lighter in weight when dry so can be moved into place easily.
• Easily moulded to shape for use in awkward or unusual positions.
  
• Cost effective alternative - one half pallet of wood pellets makes over 100 sacks.

For most effective use, lay bags on a layer of plastic sheeting.  Build wood pellet sacks in rows.  Flatten down each row to minimise gaps in your structure. Do not overfill bags as they will expand when wet. Like sandbags, wood pellet bags for flood defence will not stop water completely but can be used to minimise the amount of water entering.  Once a wood pellet sack has been used as a flood barrier it should be disposed of and is not suitable to be reused.
